In the midst of a blustery snow storm and as little Landon Wyatt was born, Claudine DeHerrera exclaimed, "It's a boy!" to her partner, Brian Graves of Tres Piedras. "Now our family is complete, a boy and a girl."
Landon weighs 7 pounds 7 ounces. His grandparents from Antonito, CO arrived soon after the birth with big sister Elke. Grandma had her youngest child in 1987 with Elizabeth Gilmore at the old birth center!

We will never forget the birth of little Sam, his struggle, and success, to BE HERE. We love this family for their joy, their faith and the strength with which they coped during Sam's difficult first hours. Sam is a healthy 3 weeker now, born to Danielle and Steve Goodnight of Eagle Nest on April 10th at the birth center. He weighed 6 pounds 4 ounces. His brothers Aaron (not shown), Jack, Joe and Gabriel happily welcomed their little bro.
Danielle writes: Samuel's birth unfolded in a way that life often does, wild and unpredictable. We thank God for the guardian angels who were present for his birth, some of them in the human form of our midwives. We feel so blessed to have him in our lives.

This little one has a childhood of living on the land to look forward to. His parents carry on the family tradition of farming in Golondrinos, New Mexico.
Jessica and Adam Weber welcomed their new son, Oryn Eutimio, named for his paternal grandfather, in the wee hours of the morning today, April 20th in the birth center.
Oryn weighs 6 pounds 9.5 ounces. His older sister Penelope and big brother Linus (also born at the Center, just 3 years ago) are waiting at grandpa's house to meet their darling little brother later today!
Welcome Oryn Eutimio!

We have an incredible Director of Development at our Birth Center. Beth Enson recently wrote a grant to fund a small fruit tree orchard and bushes. We were awarded the grant and this amazing woman took it upon herself to buy the trees from an incredible, local farmer, pick them up and organize crews of children to dig holes and plant the trees. It will be incredible to see these trees flourish and grow. I imagine picking fruit during a birth, one of those many births where I have flown out of the house with no time to make or bring food with me. Summers and fall will nourish the midwives and the mamas!
